Secret Reef

This divespot is around 50 minutes sailing from Kai Bae Beach direction south.
It is between Hin Raap and Blueberry Hill, closer to Hin Raap, or if you like so you can start the dive on Hin Raap and dive donwn to Secret Reef. On one side there is a area with the beautiful wipecorals followed by different softcorals. Chrismastrees are on the other side a lot. and on the north tip you will find a small wall from 14m till 6m on this there is the seach for stonefishes. The group of yellow stripe snappers is on the east side, mostly of course. Some Anglefish, Butterfly's and a lot of Damels having their home on Secret Reef. If you are lucky you will met the turtle who visit this spot from time to time... , sourrounded by fine sand on 14meters and on the other side on 9 meters so it is perfect for some training dives as well. The top of the reef is just 4 till 6 meters under the surface so it is easy to make the safety stop while watching to the fishes also it is nice for snorkelers, without the posibility that sorry to say; some they stay on the reef and destroy. All in all a very nice divesite, for snorkelers too

Fishing Boats

It is something to say, it is not nice and it is not good at all:
There are fishing boats to close to Koh Chang, they sail with their dragnets close by the divesites and destroy a lot!!
Sure the fishermans have to live and the tourists want to eat fish, where else to eat when not on an island??
BUT they can sail father out like the law say they have to do so.. unluckily there is not too much help from anywhere, we talked with D.A.S.T.A who are kind of responsible for the nature on Koh Chang and we sent photo's there, but the fishing boats came again...
we also talked with a lot of more people, like joe he is the 'elephant man' who take care for the free living elephants of Thailand and who started a project on koh chang for the education of kids and with the 'scandinavian chang diving center' support, a project for the clarification for the thai captains, to not throw the ancer into the corals and how long it take that corals grow and about the underwater world in general.
on this way i try to get some reactions of people who are against that too. The overfishing of the oceans.. and more the point that they destroy the reefs and with that the home of the fishes, they can not think so far that with this they actually destroy there jobs too!
